This is like watching an old movie starring Huey Long, only with a third rate cast. Why do those with small vision think they can look big by making our beloved LSU look less?

Outstanding analysis of an institution that should be one of the highest rated schools in the country. Unfortunately, because of the politicization of the staff and the reckless handling of it by Landry and his loyal cohort, it is quickly fading from its glory days. This is not surprising - Landry has tried to shield EVERYTHING from public view. It's a GOP tactic - Landry is just like his buddy, Trump. Both of their legacies will be extremely tarnished.

Perhaps I should have said "rusted" rather than tarnished.

But do either one really care about there "legacies"? It seems to me all they want is power in the "right now."

It seems to you, "correct." They're both trash.

Let’s face the fact that selection of the LSU President hasn’t been exactly a strong point for anybody for a long time. And, while I’m not a both sider, the Louisiana Governors since Mike Foster haven’t exactly covered themselves with glory in promoting and preserving LSU as the flagship university or in selection of its leadership. Christel is a lot better input than Landry normally gets. And as de facto Mayor she’s a hell of a lot better than the numbskull who has the title.

Finally, the recently departed Joe Savoie and his college, ULL, were a bright spot in dim university darkness of this state. ULL is where Landry will do most of his damage.

Agree with the long history you mentioned. It’s all been bad. As for Slaughter, I don’t know her. I’m sure she’s a fine person. She’s part of a terrible, awful, very bad process.

I’m not defending Landry. If things can get worse, he’ll get there. But, it’s typical of Louisiana “nationwide” searches that the top candidates and often the winner, are determined before the search begins.

Huey’s pick James “Jingle Money” Smith was a terrible choice, but after he went to prison it seems like there were better administrators for a long time. I don’t remember Foster interfering w LSU that much, and until Jindal started meddling, seems like there was little interference. IDK as I was there from ‘85-‘92.

Put nothing past this Trumpist State Governor. Nothing.

The whole secret search method started before the hiring of F. King Alexander, to ensure that the eventual hire wouldn’t criticize Jindal. I’m sure there will be some similar fealty to Landry required of the current eventual hire. I think Bill Jenkins was the last LSU president to dare criticize the Gubnah. The search should be public, for the flagship, to guarantee that the best candidate gets hired, as opposed to some lackey.

It likely is illegal and unconstitutional, please read the LOUISIANA CONSTITUTION OF 1974.

Just like Trump they don't care about the Constitution nor the legality of what they are doing...they are fascists.
