I absolutely agree with you. I once thought Cassidy had compassion and morals. (I knew Kennedy didn’t). Now I know Cassidy is only concerned for his political future which is being a MAGA lackey marching us to the destruction of our democracy.

My heart is broken and my disappointment is large. Why did I think the will of the people, clearly stated, would be heard by our Senators, and other ones who represent states with a large population of poor constituants, and middle class ones as well. They ( and me) will suffer unless the House comes through. To you spineless, selfish Senators, hang your big heads in shame, and be prepared to lose when your term comes up. Supporting a fascist president is not who we voted for.

I agree. I spent time this week trying to call our senators only to find out that they would not answer, and you couldn’t leave a message. I chose to e-mail them. I pointed out that the vote paired morality against cruelty. I urged them to choose the correct side. Apparently, they chose incorrectly.

Nailed it. Kennedy is power mad, but he does not understand what Medicaid does to the extent Cassidy does so he has plausible deniability. Cassidy doesn't.

Not really plausible though :)

In my opinion, Cassidy is worse than Kennedy. He should know better.

It’s hard for me to express just exactly how much contempt I feel for Cassidy-he is a disgrace to the medical society and Louisiana-I can’t wait to vote for anyone but him!

Cassidy and Kennedy voted on the budget bill exactly as I expected. Having observed their behavior for some time, I would have been surprised if either of them had put their constituents' best interest ahead of their fear of and fealty to a totally corrupt president drunk on power. The fact is, almost every republican member of Congress is terrified of losing their cushy, perk-filled position to threats by the mad king. Louisiana's republicans are no different. We cannot depend on any of them to protect us from the depredations of the people in power. This situation will not end well.

Totally agree. Cowards should not be in Washington and the Louisiana Senators are cowards and in it for all the wrong reasons! Until we have some true Americans representing all of us ,we will live and die in a dictatorship.

You’ll see a plaque of the Hypocritic Oath hanging above the door of his Senate office.

How many have died an unwelcome death because of color, lack of money, a legal field who turned their eyes away. Do these people die peacefully??

How anyone could believe he or any MAGGAT, would “do the right thing,“ is a lesson in the depth and breadth of self-delusion! Much like MAGGATS who believe 47’s lies, those who believe he has a heart/conscience are putting their faith in fairy tales. Power ( or its’ illusion,) is more addictive than any drug! I wish Cassidy and those who voted for this “death sentence,“ the lives they deserve!

We have a realty-TV show government. Soon the U.S. will face a real “The Great Depression 2.0” and wonder why politicians spend nearly a trillion USD of borrowed money from China to buy weapons from smarmy Republican friends—who then want to brag, scold, and punish China like it were an abused puppy. Typical of someone incapable of even being friends with “man’s best friend”.

And China, who think long term, know that their time is coming, soon. They have already made inroads in Africa and South America, and with the death of USAID countries are turning to China, who are willing to help. America is no longer the superpower; the sun rises over the east

Remember when Medicare/Medicaid were the third rail of politics? No politician would ever cut them out of fear that their constituents would vote them out. Now, it’s fear of angering one man who can mobilize thousands to vote for your next primary opponent. Trump didn’t create the far right; he just knew what to say and do to make himself leader

No one should die because they are poor. People are dying because RFK is Health Secretary but many more will die when the heartless Republicans pass Trump’s cruel cuts to Medicaid, etc.

I do not know the details of Duncan’s case. But I do know that at least 20 death row inmates have been freed by DNA tests.
