Hi Bob, I don't only think Senator Cassidy is highly deficient politically; he is highly deficient morally. Unfortunately, highly educated does not always automatically translate to highly ethical or high integrity!

Yes. Of course. But why? My question has been "What is Trump or his minions giving our retired doctor and defeated Senator that makes it worthwhile personally?

A relatively forgotten note on the person he sought for advice: Bill Barr. Barr was the AG of Bush's Administration who removed the special prosecutor, Lawrence Walsh, who was investigating the Iran-Contra scandal. It had become well known that he was about to charge Casper Weinburger (sp) which was widely viewed as what would have been the final step before accusing President Reagan of personal involvement and responsobility. This would have revealed his personal guilt in this and other suspected illegal activity (like his deal with Iran to wait to pardon the prisoners until his opponent was defeated and make him look heroic) We recall that his administration had more presidentially officials go to jail for corruption than any other in history. (all part of the path constructed to Trumpism)

The poor man. His family must have been threatened. It’s the only way to make sense of it.

Another way to make sense of it was provided by Lawrence O'Donnell on his MS NOW show, The Last Word.

Here's what he said on Aug. 3:

Here's what he said on June 25 (after his performative confrontation with Trump):

An additional explanation is vote trading with Senator Susan Collins; him giving her cover so her 'no' vote would not stop the confirmation. and bring Trump's wrath against her. Remember, Cassidy and Collins were good buddies for a long time; they jointly pushed for a supposedly better alternative to ObamaCare. It never went anywhere because it never gained much support. It never gained much support because it was far inferior to ObamaCare.

Emily, I just told my sister the same thing. They can get an indictment from a grand jury and make his life miserable. Or more miserable than it already is

I completely agree with your conclusion. After the sparring match between Trump and Cassidy in front of the Republican Senators, Trump told Cassidy to sit down and he refused to do so. When interviewed in the halls of Congress, Cassidy said he would not be bullied.

Now we see milk toast Cassidy who has clearly been brought in line and he sure doesn’t seem happy about it. I suspect we have an administration with Russian like Kompromat that is using it against those would be defectors to get the votes they need.

The shame of being forced into submitting to this administration will surely be worse in the long run.

Trump just did it in both of Cassidy’s boots. Cassidy’s replied, thank you Mr. President for seeing how much I still love you even after you cost me my Senate seat!

I’ll admit I was shocked when I saw the headline this morning about Cassidy‘s decision to support Blance. Why would he do something like that, I mused, when he’s Out?! Is he trying for some unseen appointment or the other. And I sent a message asking him vote No!! lol!

Blanche!

Pathetic. Shouldn’t be surprised.

Once again, he looks and is pathetic. There is always more to the story. Sad.
